Carnosine
Carnosine is an amino acid that acts as a powerful antioxidant. It is naturally found in muscle tissue. It has been discovered that applying carnosine to wounds speeds up the healing process. It can also react with damaged proteins that result in skin aging. Carnosine is unique in that it is the only agent capable of addressing the three main processes that cause the skin to age - oxidation (free radical damage), inflammation, and glycation, a process in which sugar irreversibly binds with collagen and impairs its function. The system below contains carnosine.
