Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive procedure to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.  The body is in a constant state of breaking down and renewing itself.  Old cells die and are replaced by new, healthy ones.  The skin has a very specific means of renewing itself.  New skin cells form at the bottom of the epidermis and are pushed to the surface where they die and eventually fall off.  The time between when they die and actually fall off increases as we age.  The dead skin cells build up on the skin’s surface making it look dull, grey, and dry.  Fine lines and wrinkles also become more noticeable.  Since new cells will not continue to be made until the dead ones at the top are shed, microdermabrasion is utilized to speed the sloughing process.  In short, microdermabrasion reveals and facilitates the production of younger looking skin that contains higher levels of collagen and elastin.

All microdermabrasion methods are not created equal.  One technique is actually a “micro-sandblasting” of the skin using aluminum oxide crystals.  Though effective, this technique does have its drawbacks.  First, this type of microdemabrasion produces aluminum oxide dust.  Medical concerns exist regarding the safety of inhaling it.  Also, the “sandblasting” method of microdermabrasion is not conducive to treating the facial areas near the eyes and mouth where fine lines commonly occur.

A new alternative microdermabrasion technique utilizes a wand with a natural diamond tip to remove dead skin cells in a very controlled and precise manner.  The dead cells are gently vacuumed on to a filter which is removed and discarded after each treatment. The vacuum action also helps to increase circulation to promote collagen formation and to unclog the pores. This procedure does not produce dust, therefore, treatment of the mouth and eye areas is possible.

This new technique, called Timepeel, allows you to get the same skin care treatment as received in expensive salons and spas in the privacy of your own home.  In fact, the Timepeel is the first and only FDA approved natural diamond microdermabrasion device for home use.
