Growth Factors
Anti-aging skin care formulations took a major step forward with the introduction of peptides such as argireline and matrixyl. A new group of proteins, growth factors, have been deemed the “Cadillac of peptides” by New York dematologist Dr. Amy B. Lewis. A handful of growth factors have been isolated to date and include TGF beta, TNS, and PSP. These growth factors have the potential to stimulate the fibroblasts to produce collagen. Consequently, increasing the amount of collagen in the skin improves wrinkles. Of course, innovative technologies do not come cheap. Even still, in the long run, they might be worth it.
