Microcurrent Therapy
Microcurrent therapy utilizes small amounts of electrical current to retrain the facial muscles to resume their original and more youthful position. As a result, sagging skin will appear more firm and toned. This electric current is nearly identical in magnitude to the electric current the human body naturally produces on its own. The strength of the microcurrent is measured in microamperes and is so small that it should not be felt while being administered. Microcurrent therapy works by minutely stimulating the facial muscles thereby strenthening them and bringing more definition to the face.
Microcurrent therapy also works at the cellular level to increase the utilization of ATP by our bodies. ATP is the source of energy for our muscle cells. Muscle fibers are only able to store a limited supply of ATP. Consequently, increasing ATP plays an important role in muscle cell metabolism. ATP supplies the energy the muscles need to contract. This increase in ATP also stimulates the fibroblasts to produce collagen and enhances the production of elastin.
