TONING MATURE SKIN

Many people incorporate this process into their skin care regimen.  Proponents of toning say this step is necessary to remove cleanser residue, restore the skin’s pH balance and to close the pores after cleansing.

I have never been a big fan of toners, particularly for aging skin.  They always seem to leave my skin feeling dry and taut because many of them contain alcohol or witch hazel.  I have found that using a good, pH balanced cleanser and rinsing it off well with chlorine-free, clean water is sufficient.

In addition, pores are not little windows that open and close.  If pores appear to be large, it is because they are filled with oil, dirt, and debris.  Cleaning and exfoliating will remove the congestion and the pores will appear smaller.
